Because of Niamh. As the sun has set on this Friday night, tonight’s most beautiful light is Niamh. It is our honor to introduce the Niamh Binkeez for Comfort.
On October 2015, Niamh (pronounced Neve) our beautiful, fun seven years old was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). On the day we entered the clinic to discuss treatments, Niamh was escorted to the play room she looked around then said to her father and I, “why do the children have no hair” our hearts broke into a million pieces, she looked at us and she knew, nothing more needed to be said. Niamh sat in that room and drew a picture, when my husband and I finished talking with the Doctors, Niamh handed us the picture and said “Life is Full of Sunshine, Rainbows and Butterflies”. From that point forward Niamh has been fighting and now she nearing the end of her treatments. Niamh is a total ray of “Sunshine” to all who know her always so positive and fun, she sees the beauty in everything, she is so close to the end of that “Rainbow” and the “Butterflies” represent her Granny who passed in 2016 and all who have passed.
Niamh’s first love is soccer; her last game prior to diagnoses was October 4, 2015. Niamh started back training with her team in Spring 2017 and in June 2017 she played her first games, she scored two goals, her teammates ran from the sidelines and hugged her so tight, it was a precious sight to witness, yet, the referee had no idea what was happening. Niamh will officially start back playing with her travel team (Thistle Thunder) in September 2017.
