Meet our friend, Kailiah. She bravely fought Bi-phenotypic Leukemia.
This amazing dancer is a cancer survivor and her and her family raise money awareness to help other families now facing the unthinkable. As shared by her parents. ”On July 10, 2003, the answer to our families prayer was born. The baby girl I dreamed of, the little sister her five brothers waited patiently for, and daddy’s princess that he named even before she was conceived. That is the day the Lord gave us Kailiah Rachel Fontaine. A gift from God for our family and all who would meet her. Now 4 1/2 years old, Kailiah has grown up like any other little girl. Living each day to the fullest. Making sure there is fun in everything she does. Typical girl who loves to eat, shop, and watch John and Kate Plus Eight with mom. She loves going to church, dance class, ice skating, and riding her bike. Most of all, she loves playing just about anything with her big brothers. She is one of the families greatest joys! On Tuesday, March 18th, 2008, all that joy turned to saddness when the doctor told us that our little girl had bi-phenotypic leukemia. A rare form of leukemia found once in a decade. She not only had one form but two. How could this be? She never had more than a sniffle, cough, or belly ache in this past 4 years. There were no signs other than a pale face and some dark circles that I excused as sleep deprivation. One simple blood test would change her life forever. This perfectly normal looking little girl now has the fight of her life.On August 6, 2008, Kailiah received her cord blood transplant. Now she is able to live her life free of leukemia and chemotherapy. We are so grateful to our Lord for his hand remaining on her.”
